Known Issues
The following are Known Issues with Casterlabs-Caffeinated:
TikTok Connection Issues
There are currently some issues with TikTok's API which may cause connection issues for some users.
This is caused by TikTok blocking Casterlabs servers from accessing their API.
We can now detect when this happens and will show a warning in the app/dock when it does.
TikTok Missed Messages
Due to to TikTok's quality filter and privacy settings, Caffeinated may miss messages from certain users. This is because TikTok does not send message events for ~10% of users to third-party applications, and unfortunately, there's nothing we can do about this.
The solution is for us to use cookies for a logged in account when we read chat (which would get that account banned, causing this issue to be a problem again).
We are currently exploring options to mitigate this issue, but there is no guaranteed solution at this time.
Caffeinated Updater
There is a bug in the updater which causes it to not update itself properly. This manifests as the app immediately closing or crashing on launch. Usually it says "Checking for updates" then "Downloading installer" before closing but sometimes it will not.
Fix
- Reinstalling the app from the website will fix the issue.
YouTube & TikTok Connection Delay
Caffeinated only checks for new YouTube and TikTok streams every 5 minutes. This results in the app missing some chat messages at the start of livestreams.
Fix:
- There is no fix as this is intended behavior due to the limitations of YouTube's API Quota system and TikTok's API respectively!
Caffeinated Launching Off-Screen
Sometimes when starting the app, it may get stuck off screen. This manifests as the app being in the taskbar but not appearing on-screen.
Fix
- Open Task Manager and kill Caffeinated.
- Open
%appdata%\casterlabs-caffeinated\preferences
in File Explorer and then delete the file calledwindow.json
.
Once you do that, relaunch the app and it'll appear on-screen again.
Make Messages Disppear Delay
Some users may experience a delay with the Make Messages Disappear option for their on-screen chat widgets.
This is caused by your PC's system clock being out of sync.
Windows 10 fix

Windows key + R
to open the Run dialog. - Type "control" and press Enter to open the Control Panel.

Manual Synchronization
